SSA Staffing Declines Further In Q1 2017
New figures released today show the Social Security Administration (SSA) lost another 1,181 (1.9 percent) of its workforce in the first 3 months of 2017, and now stands at 62,183 employees. The number of administrative law judges (ALJs), who decide claims at the hearing level, also decreased slightly over the same period from 1,684 to 1,655.
